Bonjour mi famille et mes amis!
Jan 14 started my journey. During a two day romp through New York I experienced the best Halal Chicken and Rice NYC can offer as well as a quick tour through the first floor of the Metropolitan Art Museum, not to mention much needed QT with my good friend Chika.
For those up in pop culture I also started and finished The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl and Friends (watch it, it's great!!)
Jan 17, I found myself in London Heathrow for a 22 hr layover. I skipped sight seeing and slept all day. Determined however to see some part of London I went to the Soho district. At a bar called Jewel I met 2 London mates from whence I learned 5 interesting facts:
1) Americans copy everything from the British
2) American beer is not REAL beer
3) British sarcasm is better than American sarcasm
4) My American accent is adorable (this I don't believe)
5) I am a bad influence (slightly more believable)
Jan 18 found me ,after my short stint in London (not to mention my amateur stumbles on the tube - Piccadilly Line to Cockfosters if you must know)on a flight to Casablanca, then to Fez and finally from the Fez train station (where I wasn't harassed at all contrary to other girls) to Al-Akhawayn!
Some particulars on my university:
1) Approx. 1500 students - undergrad, American style curriculum, all English classes
2) Situated in the town of Ifrane in the Middle Atlas Mountains, about 5 hours from Casablanca (the coast)
3) Weekday curfew of 12 AM, must be back on campus by that time
4) Strictly sex segregated dormitories with no elevators, but HUGE rooms with connected bathroom.
5) No heating ANYWHERE except in the dorm rooms. (This includes in restaurants in town!)
My only concern upon arrival was....am I really supposed to use that bidet?? And how??
I will update this blog weekly on Mondays as I figure that's when I'll have the most time. Undoubtedly, Sundays will be spent on either travel, shopping in le marché (the market) or homework.

P.S. I know you all really want pictures, but the WiFi is so sucky in my room I can't upload even one, so I'll make a trip to the library and upload them tomorrow after class. Stay tuned!

So glad to hear you arrived safely! Love your comments about London. My daughter used the bidet in our hotel room in Rome to soak her feet after a long day walking (haha!)

DeleteNow, this is how I am gonna start blogging. lol My sister had me watch the (Mis)Adventures of Awkward Black Girl and they were funny. Jealous that your rooms are huge though.
